ICNA is a well respected mainstream Muslim organization that has been active in the American society for the past four decades.
Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company with 21 parks across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Founded in 1961, Six Flags has provided world class entertainment for millions of families with cutting edge, record-shattering roller coasters and appointment programming with events like the popular Thursday and Sunday Night Concert Series. Now 47 years strong, Six Flags is recognized as the preeminent thrill innovator while reaching to all demographics -- families, teens, tweens and thrill seekers alike.
In the early 90's, ICNA established a youth division called Young Muslims to help the Muslim youth become better Muslims and citizens. Today, Young Muslims (YM) is a pioneering national youth organization that has established a well organized network of local youth groups across the United States and Canada. By providing the Muslim youth with an Islamic atmosphere where they can form bonds of brotherhood with their peers, they become comfortable with Islam and its teachings. YM stresses the importance of knowing, understanding, and fulfilling the individual and collective obligations of being a Muslim. For Women ICNA has a strong relief department called ICNA Relief that has launched several projects to provide social services to the communities in New York NY, Atlanta GA, New Orleans LA, Houston TX, Dallas TX, Chicago IL, Detroit MI, Seattle WA, and the Bay Area CA. Projects include temporary housing for men and women, domestic disaster relief, case management and financial assistance, soup kitchens and hunger prevention, funeral services and medical funds, financial assistance to stop eviction, electric and gas bills, and metro cards. Some of ICNA Relief's divisions include: United Muslim Movement Against Homelessness, Muslim Family Services, Muslim Women's Help Network and the 911 response program. ICNA Relief has an excellent track record from its efforts on the ground in response to major international and national disasters such as the Asian Tsunami, Pakistan Earthquake, and Hurricane Katrina. For the American Public ICNA has been at the forefront of outreach activities since its inception four decades ago. ICNA has formed several coalitions with organizations of other faiths to help bridge the gap between Muslims and the larger American public. Today, ICNA's outreach project WhyIslam has become the source point for accurate and easily accessible information on Islam and Muslims for millions of Americans through its toll-free hotline, websites, free publications and the hundreds of information booths and presentations organized across the nation. For the American Muslim Community ICNA has been organizing an annual convention for the Muslim community for 33 years. Thousands attend this convention where relevant themes are expounded upon by some of the most knowledgeable Islamic Scholars. A wide array of vibrant parallel activities and programs are held for women, youth, children and the general public. A lively Bazaar compliments the other segments of the convention. For one weekend, a major U.S. city transforms into a Muslim metropolis. 'The Message' is ICNA's monthly news magazine. Month after month, it delivers stories and articles that keep Muslims informed about the contemporary world. This information helps us properly convey the message of Islam.
